Flea Lifecycle
- Females lay 4to 8 eggs after each blood meal.
- The female is expected to lay 1000 eggs in its short life span.
- Once hatched the flea larva will moult twice growing to 5mm and have 13 segments.
- Once full grown the larva will spin a cocoon and pupation can last months to years.

Identifying the Flea
Usually 2mm-3mm long and brown/black. The very large hind legs are used to propel itself from floor to a mammal host. Their eggs are 0.5mm long and oval shaped and a pearly white in colour.
